The Santa Cruz - Ulta trek is a great alternative to the classic Santa Cruz trek, ideal for hikers looking for a longer, more demanding trek exploring the stunning northern section of the Cordillera Blanca. The first part of the trek goes up the famous Santa Cruz Valley, where you are rewarded with some breathtaking panoramas of towering glaciered white peaks, pristine azure lakes and deep green valleys rich with exotic tropical plants.
The challenging 2-day extension takes you through some less frequented valleys of the range, over the magnificent Yanayacu Pass and down to the verdant Ulta Valley, where the imposing Mount Huascaran - Peru’s highest summit at 6768m - can be admired in all its splendour.
