On 21st December 2013 QUECHUANDES organised its annual chocalatada, this time in cooperation with the climbing club CASAM in the village of Jancu, which is situated at the entrance of the Shallap Valley in the Cordillera Blanca.
The event was a resounding success thanks to all the people who participated on the day making sure that the games were as entertaining as ever, all who made donations that allowed the children and adults to have some great Christmas presents, and of course all who took the time to organise the event making sure everything ran smoothly.
The chocolatada of course included giving out paneton, hot chocolate, toys and clothes to the local people, but this time the locals prepared something for us too, a delicious picante de cuy! What a great surprise! The event was named a "Bouldering Chocolatada" and therefore there was indeed some climbing involved, as Jancu counts with some great boulders!
It was a fantastic day! Thanks to everyone who made this possible!
Special thanks go to Benji Rosario from the Akilpo Hostel, Debra Aumond, Russell Lybarger, Martin & Paula Steinheber, Tannis Dakin, Monique Link, Jen Stronge and Rick Seward from Canada, Fabrizzia Torres, Javier Bautista, Jhon Cuenca, our landlady Nieves Cuaros, Yessica Tatiana Garro, Juanito & Ilda Lazo, Juan Raul Matienzo, Fabiola Alzamora and Libna Cochachin for their generous donations; Lili Schneider, Roosevelt Pantoja, Cesar Vicuña and Magdiley Guerra Flores for their participation in the games; and Alexandra Rodriguez for coordinating the event with the people from Jancu and help with the organisation.
